Description: This year’s Terroir Renaissance Symposium, with the theme of Terroir and Soil, focused on the interpretation and dissemination of the concept of Terroir and Soil from different regions and their relationship in the wine world. The keynote speakers were more than 20 leading professionals in wine terroir, including the owners and wine makers of the world´s top wineries, soil and grape scientists, as well as the most influential wine critics. Álvaro Palacios, as one of the most influential winemakers in Spain, introduced the particularities of the three Spanish wine regions where he works and his understanding about terroir.

The Seminars aroused a great response among the international and Chinese wine industry professionals. Over 3,000 wine lovers and professionals from all over the country participated in the activities of the Terroir Seminar, including a whole day seminar on the theory of terroir, a gathering of more than 700 wines from 235 well-known international wineries, 7 top master classes, 6 private dinners for owners, and 1 charity auction dinner.

Speakers at the Terroir Seminar can be described as a multitude of stars, including Aubert de Villaine, the soul of the wine terroir concept, honorary Chairman of the Burgundy Vineyard Terroir World Cultural Heritage Federation and owner of Domaine de La Romanée-Conti. Other speakers were international wine critics and experts in various fields, such as the influential Spanish winemaker Alvaro Palacios, and local opinion leaders like Guan Jianping, an expert in Chinese tea culture, and Wang Zhiwei, an expert in Chinese medicine.

Alvaro Palacios, the first Spanish guest, analyzed the soil, microclimate and grape varieties of D.O.Ca. Priorat, D.O. Bierzo and D.O.Ca. Rioja, and shared his ideas about the impact of different terroirs on wine.

Wines from Spain also coorganized a masterclass by Álvaro Palacios, where he showcased some top wines expressing the best of their terroirs in D.O.Ca. Priorat, D.O. Bierzo and D.O.Ca. Rioja.

On Sunday, November 24th, the Grand Tasting of the World's Top Terroir Wines brought together 235 top wineries from 70 major wine regions. Among them were 39 famous Spain wineries. Over 2,000 senior wine lovers, industry buyers, retailers, sommeliers and catering managers from famous restaurants and hotels from all over the country participated in this grand wine tasting.
